On Adjustable Fractional Delay FIR Filters and Their Design

This paper considers adjustable fractional delay FIR filters and their design. We employ a filter structure that in [1] is referred to as the modified Farrow structure. This structure makes use of a number of linearphase FIR subfilters. In [1], all subfilters are of odd and equal order. In this paper, we consider the case where the subfilters in general have different orders, which results in a lower overall complexity. We also consider the case where they are of even order which has been paid less attention earlier, but there are applications where it is of interest. Several design examples are included.
